About me
Ms. Myrna Douglas is Librarian-in-charge of the Law Branch Library at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus. She is also Coordinator of the Technology, Innovation Support Centre - Intellectual Property (TISC-IP) Helpdesk which is a strategic partnership between The UWI, Mona Campus, Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) and WIPO. She is a member of the Mona Law Faculty Board and Commonwealth law subject specialist liaison librarian
Ms. Douglas, a fully qualified Law Librarian, who read for a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at The UWI, Cave Hill Campus and pursued the Legal Education Certificate (LEC) at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. She also gained legal research certificates from the University of Toronto. She is a former Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Studies at UWI Mona Campus, Jamaica. In addition, she continues to delivers annual guest lectures across two semesters to MonaLaw students in law foundation/research courses, since 2013.
Ms. Douglas specializes in complex and advanced legal research, providing confidential legal scenario research in academic library settings, building law library collections, and networking to raise awareness about data protection and research innovation and services strategy.
She is currently the West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) Jamaica Grievance Secretary, the 2026 Secretary of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA), and is a former President of the Caribbean Association of Law Libraries (CARALL), 2022-2024.
