2026 NDLA Conference

Andrea Placher started working at the Williston Community Library as the children’s librarian in 2011. In 2017, she took on the role of director with guidance and support. She is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for everyone in the community. During her time in Williston, Andrea has been involved with various organizations and boards. She currently holds the position of Past-President at the North Dakota Library Association and serves as the Advocacy Chair for Mondak Chapter 619 Pheasants Forever. She also represents Special Populations on the North Dakota Library Coordinating Council. She has been involved with the North Dakota Digital Resource Consortium, James Memorial Art Center Board of Directors, and Head Start Policy Council. Andrea is an alumna of the 2016 Leadership Williston Class, participated in the Mountain Plains Library Association Leadership Institute in 2023, and recently obtained the Certified Library Support Staff Certification from the American Library Association. While Andrea is not originally from North Dakota, she considers Williston her home. She resides here with her husband of 26 years, Shane, and their two pets, Frankie and Izzo. Her adult children, Chandler and Bailey, also live in Williston with their partners, and she is a proud Gramma to six-year-old grandbaby Reid and soon-to-be baby River.
